Now, I wonder how Italian gator tastes?
&New doll pics are going to have to be next Sunday, due to certain resin individuals not photographing well in sunlight. You can color me surprised too. I thought that was a sure thing. Anyway, it’ll be another doozie. Also, I may have discovered how to make fantastic feet for any tiny sized BJD to the tune of about $10, but we’ll see if that actually works before I go crowing it from the rooftops.
I don’t have a foot fetish. I just think nonhuman foot components are a nice touch for a doll, being both very cool and unobtrusive. Also, I don’t like shoe shopping for myself, which spoils it for me in the doll department XD.
Anyway, the beading date on Friday went super well. It’s a lovely drive, the stuffed quail were hilarious (and, my mistake, in the house), the dogs adorable and my students for the day a hell of a lot better than the sixth graders I used to teach origami. Much LOLing was had by all and wouldn’t you know it? My pattern is reproducible by others! I was a bit concerned about that. Alas, there was some consensus that it’s not a good pattern for novice beaders. And I may or may not be out of my head for concocting such a thing.
One of the ladies I was teaching even thanked me by email and sent me a sale flier for a shop I wouldn’t ordinarily visit. Which I did then visit.
Saturday, we went into the city for dinner at Avanti, this charming art deco Italian place that frankly looks more like a prop in a mob movie than an actual place you can go for food. Let alone AMAZING food. I’d always wanted to try their pasta sampler of the day, but there’s almost always something I don’t care for involved. Not the case Saturday night. I had eggplant and cheese appetizer followed by a trio of spinach ravioli in basil sauce, cheese tortellini in Bolognese and gnocchi in cream sauce with peas, followed by tartufo for dessert. Oh, and a whole bottle of chianti to share. And the hammiest waiter ever. We had a really good time though! Despite the usual installation of weirdness. This one prom couple- it is that time of year -showed up, looked at the menu, and stormed off. I really have no idea. They had reservations and everything…
We finally got the mess with the filter under the sink fixed, more or less. The one tube that was alright has sprung a leak. It’s fixable, but annoying. Someday, we’ll be done under there. This weekend wasn’t it.
Writing has been going pretty damn well. We’re about done with the auction story PKT and I collaborated on. It’s only three times as long as advertised. So, that will need cleaned up. I’ve been attempting to tame the NaNo 2010… idea into something usable. The outline’s not even any good to me. I think I got down to what was really, truly wrong with it: the atmosphere is off and not letting the point through. And next time I will prescreen people I take writerly advice from. Though that last part turned out to have a silver lining of sorts: now, I can do the opposite of what was suggested.
In the mean time, I can end on a note of alligator, as requested by calalillith And because who the hell wouldn’t want to end on a note of alligator sometime in their life?;
