Hell yeah, literalism!
Well, to begin with, I got sent home early from beading on Tuesday. To study. Really thought the days of that sort of thing happening to me were gone, but anyway. My exams on the 21st. Only just after that did I start to get nervous, though there were hugs involved and that made me happy, as well it should have!
Yesterday, we ran out to do some shopping. ”We” was not to original intent. I clean on Wednesdays and no one is going to keep me from that, excepting ME. But, I’ve really been thinking my closet needs and overhaul, ever since I finally realized that most of my pants do not, in fact, fit me. You’d think such a thing would be self-evident, but it’s a subtle kind of not fit, primarily affecting aesthetics. My pants aren’t falling off or anything, I just have this dudely waistline going on. So, I did some poking around, and found some pants more compatible with my ass. I did not find the new issue of Beadwork.
To recap Me v. Beadwork: first, they wouldn’t send my issues. Then, they did this thing where they had two different versions, and would only send the smaller one where you had to print half the pages yourself. Finally, after I took umbrage with having to print pages I couldn’t actually get, they got sassy about refunding my money. So now, I only buy from third parties.
While we were out, no less than three people cut in lines we happened to be in. And we ran into the angry decorator at the fabric store. She’s angry for sure, and I can’t imagine she’s NOT a decorator, all the material she buys.
The cleaning got made up today. And then, since Dad’s out shooting… well, a few months ago, we had an ungood experience at a local cafe, which has gone on to become one of my most popular Yelp reviews. The owner offered to comp our food if we tried them again, and we finally took her up on it. A nice gesture? Hell yes! Was the food any better? Uh… you know, what we had tonight DESERVES an update of the angry variety, all niceties aside. Also, I honestly felt the owner, once we mentioned who we were threatened us in a backhanded sort of way. Mum says she enjoyed dinner, but she was pretty drunk. At the very least, it was uncomfortable and I do not wish to return. As for warning others, well, I’ll think about that.
The lady at the rock store was telling us how much she likes The Station while we were in, and stayed open just a little extra even though I was only buying a little. If she owned a restaurant, I would totally go there. As for what I was doing at the rock shop…
I have this half-circle of dirt walled off by my patio. I think it was supposed to be a planter of some regard, and when we moved in, it was full of these weird, feathery things that looked like weeds. Now that we finally have an agreeable gardener, I asked if we could have the feathery things removed. They only charged us for the new landscaping rock put in over the bare dirt. But, that left us with a half circle of plain landscaping rock.
Last week, I jokingly told Mum I was going to buy a bunch of rocks from the rock lady and make, well, a rock garden. Literally. Hey, rocks won’t degrade in the sun or rot or fade, amirite?
I don’t think she believed I would actually do it. Tell that to my new wedge of Prehnite. I also found this really interesting wedge of amethyst that LOOKS like it grew in a botanical sort of way. I put them out tonight along with some green calcite, tumbled aquamarine slag and quartz I stole from the neighbor’s yard. I think I’m going to stick with cool-colored stones, since they’ll show up best. The piece of celestite I have isn’t substantial or… three-dimensional, so I’m in the market for another. And this just might be the excuse I always wanted to get a true HUNK of fluorite. Some snowflake obsidian might be nice too, but big pieces of that are pricey. Turquoise is probably out for the same reason. Kyanite and malachite would look nice, but they’re both on the soft side.
Pics, as soon as I have a decent display going, possibly with those little garden tags.
