My Hugs Are So Awesome, They’re Now Worth Actual Money.
Not that I’m going to start charging for them, but you have to admit this is kind of a cool thing I’ve got going. Unlike Robb and Stuckey, the snooty furniture place downtown. That joint had their own channel around here at one point and now they’re going out of business. They were an institution! Which, admittedly, we never shopped at, not wanting to pay five grand for coffee tables and such.
Isn’t it nice the recession’s over? *GROAN*
Which is just one of the many reasons I’ve been spending so much time on this kit business for the bead store. I’d be crushed if they went away, and what with so many wonderful things going away… Not to mention, I really feel I owe them for giving me my first IRL friends in a long-ass time. Not that being non-irl invalidates or diminishes any of you, but we can’t run up to Harold’s for beer together without plane tickets. And that’s really fun. Anyway, we had to rethink some of the colorways and now we’re working on where to get the stuff for those colorways and pricing. Goodness, the diagrams we have for the instructions are glorious. I really think this is going to happen and be awesome.
Speaking of sneaking out for business meetings with beer, I got talked into trying one of the ruben sammiches at the Horny Toad last time, which was almost as wonderful as the glomp distribution afterwards. Yes. Delicious glomps. It was with them in mind that I departed to the yarn store. I’d gotten the urge to make some plastic canvas doll furniture, but could not consummate it due to a lack a tapestry needles. So, I meandered in and asked how everyone was doing. They’d just cleaned the place and it was LOVELY. But, alas, the owner had just put her dog to sleep. So, I offered her a hug, which she politely declined before asking what I was after. She had to root some up from under the counter, but lo and behold were there tapestry needles. When I asked how much: “Well, how about that hug?”. So, there were more hugs and the world felt like a much better place.
I’m making the Annie’s Attic Victorian Buffet. Why? I have no idea. But, the thing is considered the prince of the Annie’s patterns and I have been meaning to make one for about five years now. Someday, I plan to whip up some BJD accessories in the stuff, but we’ll talk about that more another day.
On the BJD front: my Kiel Ent should be here tomorrow or Monday. Once I take pictures of her, I will have images of my entire collection which are damnwell going to be posted here.
I’ve been a bit sick the past few days. I think my new super tight headphones may be conducive to ear infections. I’m better today, not wanting to dig my eardrum out with a spoon, but still wobbly and generally annoyed. While in the eardrum + spoon = good idea state, I was pretty desperate for anything to improve my situation. I still laughed upon finding an abstract for a paper alleging that vibratory devices applied to the mastoid process improve ear pain. But, I *was* desperate. You can imagine A) how hilarious this looked and B) my pleasant surprise that it did indeed work.
Dad got a raise and a bonus the day after we had the fridge repaired. Result: still stuck with the fridge that’s as old as I am.
